Greetings!

New single “The Man Who Became Himself” OUT NOW LISTEN BELOW only released in digital format.

NEW WEB STORE OPEN HERE NOW Β https://acid-reign.backstreetmerch.com/

We are the self styled Squaredanciest band in the world and kings of United Kingdom Apple Core. We were alive back in the day then we died and now we’re alive again, a bit like Jesus (although apparently he died again so maybe not).

This is the place to find out what is going on with us right now, upcoming shows, what music is available (everything, buy it!) and what our next moves will be. You can interact with the band, watch a video even listen to one of H’s podcasts on the Talking Bollocks page, there’s lots to do and we hope you enjoy your stay.

Moochos Grasse Arse!

John FosterLike you didn't tape trade back in the day? Same thing but now we're in the digital age, everyone's pissing their pants about Spotify. I'm all for artists getting paid, but when home taping was allegedly killing music back then, yet most people I know borrowed my albums to copy them onto cassette? Nowt as Queer as folk.

Drew MatthewsThe fact that streaming services have helped to make 99.99999% of musical endeavours completely uneconomical is only the tip of the iceberg. It's also had a dire effect on people's listening habits and ultimately the quality of music that gets commercially released. Unfettered access to almost every recorded note ever has resulted in a younger generation that, for the most part, cannot concentrate for long enough to listen to songs which take longer than 6 seconds to get going, let alone an entire album. The Top 40 sausage factories are wise to this fact, so much so that the "6 second rule" is one of their main operating principles these days. The theory is that the average listener will get bored and move on to the next item in their playlist if an entire 6 seconds passes without a hook, a sample or sound effect. As such, they deliberately produce the majority of tracks with this in mind. This results in a vicious circle: industry shifts to primarily dealing in increasingly limited music, youngsters accept this as the norm, the industry realises that this is the only way it can continue to make big turnovers and carries on doing it. The accepted parameters of what labels consider to be "commercially viable" get narrower and narrower by the day. That's the true cost of streaming services: the music is getting far, far worse as a result.

2 weeks ago   ·  2
Avatar

Tom SilasNot sure if what i'm about to say is still the case; or if i fully understood it at the time - but doing a bit of reading/research into spotify's royalty rates a few years back i found that there isn't even a set pay out per-stream for every artist. Basically, if i understood correctly, it works out as a kind of 'market share' system, whereby the artists with the highest number of streams get paid a higher amount per stream due their higher 'share' of total streams per month. Which, if true, is even worse!! Makes it nigh impossible for anybody except the likes of your rihannas, beibers and kanyes to get any leg up in the world of streaming (at least spotify's world of streaming). Pretty awful.

2 weeks ago   ·  2

Throwback Thursday - Obnoxious was written in this building & it's now a dental studio, ironically writing that album was like pulling teeth!

No the H on the building is of no significance.

JuanΓ³n RuizPure coincidence the H, thrash history was written there. Whose was the idea for that pink cover? Curious, no-one in metal let alone thrash could have done that, but knowing your 'seriousness' you hit the nail un the head, you didn't leave anyone indifferent, either you loved it or you hated it.
